This is our Kānehoalani pareau collection. Cut, sewn, and hand printed with aloha by our Hālau ʻŌhiʻa learners, this collection of pareau features a yellow ink reminiscent of our vibrant golden sun, Kānehoalani. Each pareau is hand-printed so colors may vary depending on the base fabric color. This collection is limited, order yours today!

This design is inspired by the opening line, “ua lū kinikini ka hua ʻōhiʻa lehua, scattering thousands and thousands of ʻōhiʻa seeds,” from the oli komo, or entrance chant, written for Hālau ʻŌhiʻa by creator and teacher, Kekuhi Kealiʻikanakaʻoleohaililani. The design depicts the different life stages of the ʻōhiʻa, starting with the ripening of the hua or fruits, to the opening of the seed pods, to the seed pods drying and dispersing their seeds across the landscape. Like the foundational role of ʻōhiʻa in maintaining the health of native Hawaiian forest ecosystems, we ourselves must develop our own cognitive hua so that we may share this knowledge with a wider audience to help our communities and landscapes be healthy and strong.

PRICE IS LISTED PER INDIVIDUAL PAREAU. Below is a sample of what the pareau looks like open and styled:
